Aled Jones to host Music & Drama Education Awards 2023

The award winners will be revealed on 23 February 2023 in a ceremony hosted by Aled Jones.

Classic FM presenter Aled Jones has been announced as the presenter of this year’s Music & Drama Education Awards, celebrating the outstanding achievements of teachers, school departments, individuals, resources, organisations and charities working in performing arts education. 

As the host of the most listened to show on Sunday on Classic FM – the headline sponsor of the Awards Jones has also presented BBC1’s Songs of Praise for nearly 20 years, while establishing an extensive career as a TV and radio presenter.

Jones has received an MBE for his work, having released more than 40 albums and securing over 40 Silver Gold and Platinum discs. 

The esteemed presenter began his career at the age of 12 where he released 12 successful albums over four years, featuring in ‘Walking in the Air’ in the animated film The Snowman

‘We are thrilled that Jones is hosting the awards,’ says editor of Drama & Theatre, Freya Parr. ‘He will provide a brilliant insight into the value of arts in education, having performed from a young age. The evening will celebrate the amazing work of those across the arts education sector, and we can’t wait for Drama & Theatre magazine to be a small part of that.’  

The shortlist has recently been announced for the awards, chosen by a panel of expert judges from across the music and drama education sectors. The winners will be revealed on an awards evening hosted by Jones on 23 February 2023.
