Approaching live theatre reviews

Watching live theatre is one of the best ways of teaching students about performance, acting, design, directing, staging, lighting, special effects and the genres of theatre. While not every school has ready access to live performance, a review of a live performance is a requirement in both GCSE and A level specifications. Increasingly, it is recognised that streamed performances are acceptable for student review. This scheme of work, consisting of six sessions, is an introduction to ways of tackling the review, learning how to analyse and evaluate the ingredients of live performance and to be ready for the exams. No timings are suggested for each session as they will depend on whether schools are back in full operation or not.
