Black British Theatre Awards winners unveiled

In a ceremony recorded at the Young Vic and broadcast on Sky Arts last night (Sunday 25th), the winners of the 2020 Black British Theatre Awards were announced. Now in its second year, the Black British Theatre Awards celebrates and recognises outstanding arts contribution among the Black British community, with the nominations voted for almost entirely by the public.

Winners include Miriam-Teak Lee, who took the award for Best Female Actor in a Musical for & Juliet, also winning the same category in the Olivier Awards.

Best Male Actor in a Play went to Valentine Olukoga for The Fishermen, and Best Female Actor in a Play went to Rakie Ayola for On Bear Ridge. Death of a Salesman at the Young Vic took Best Play, while Best Producer went to Adrian Grant for Thriller Live at the Lyric Theatre.
