How It Ended are bringing a festive retelling of The Fir Tree, the Hans Christian Andersen story of a little fir tree who is desperate to grow up and longs for adventure, to artsdepot this December.
The Fir Tree’s three person cast features: Denzel Baidoo (Bukayo Saka in Dear England, National Theatre’s West End transfer; This Might Not Be It, Bush Theatre), with Samuel Heron (The Mousetrap, St. Martin's Theatre, West End; The Flick, National Theatre) and Loren O’Dair (Once The Musical, West End; The Tempest, Pleasance Theatre).
How It Ended’s adaption will feature live music and song, live foley sound effects, and puppetry, to tell the story of the young fir tree and its discovery of the power of friendship, the importance of living in the present, and other moral lessons on the 180th anniversary of the book’s original publication.
The production has been Sensory Adapted, with all performances programmed with sensitive sound and lighting to ensure there are no sudden flashing lights or loud sound effects, for people with sensory sensitivities such as those with epilepsy or learning disabilities.
The show is intended for children aged 6 or above, has approximately one hour run time, and will be featured at artsdepot theatre in London from Thursday 12th December - Tuesday 31st December.
