The number of students taking Drama A Level in England, Wales and Northern Ireland is up by 3 per cent this year, from 9645 in 2021 to 9,953 in 2022.

Exam results published by the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) reveal that the number of Drama A Level entrants rose by 1 per cent in 2021 and 3 per cent this year.

This falls short of the increase in A Level students across the UK, as overall entries for A Level have increased by 4.2 per cent from 756,230 in 2021 to 788,125 in summer 2022. This is partially explained by a 2.4 per cent increase in the size of the 18-year-old cohort according to ONS population estimates.
