Performed live from two separate locations in Malaysia and the UK, Rice! fuses theatre and food in a story about migration, life between two cultures and the food that shapes it.
Audiences can choose to have a package of simple ingredients with printed instructions delivered to their door prior to the show. There is also the option to join a 1-hour pre-show virtual cooking class to prepare the light meal.
Set in Kuala Lumpur in the 1990s, Rice! is written by Vera Chok (The Good Immigrant) and features Amanda Ang (Last Madame) and Michelle Wen Lee (Miss Saigon, Hey Mr Producer, London Road, Rogue Trader) and tells the story of Connie Cheng, a modern Malaysian-born Chinese woman.
