The Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury have announced the launch of the Writers’ Room Festival – a new six-day event celebrating new writing talent from Kent and beyond. The festival will feature play performances, rehearsed readings, writing workshops, talks and panel discussions.

The festival is borne out of Marlowe theatre’s successful Writers’ Room initiative, which was created to encourage and develop new writing for stage, screen and digital platforms in the current climate, where few pathways for UK playwrights exist. The festival will aim to showcase some of the work that has emerged from the scheme over the last year, as well as presenting new work from some more established writers.
