Isabel Hague won the National Theatre New Views competition in 2019 with If Not Now, When? - a script that celebrates her Northern upbringing - and she is now a professional playwright.
The text is to be performed by students from Hague’s former college this Autumn, in a show produced by Momentum Theatre. The show's tour will go around Yorkshire and be performed at Wakefield, Barnsley and Goole.
Hague said: ‘I’m really excited for the tour to kick off. I’m so proud that If Not Now, When? Is having this Northern tour. I grew up around here and have seen plays in all these amazing theatres. I wouldn’t have believed it if you’d told me when I was 15 that I’d get to see my play performed here. It is just incredible!’

Hague was the second student to win the New Views competition from Wakefield’s Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) college, after Alice Schofield won with If We Were Older in 2018.
‘We are thrilled that Isabel Hague’s first play If Not Now, When? is continuing to develop with CAPA College, and with support from Arts Council England’, says the National Theatre.
‘Isabel took part in the National Theatre’s New Views playwriting programme in 2018/19 and her play was selected as the winner from 350 entries across the UK. It was a joy to see her script brought to life on the Dorfman stage and we look forward to seeing its development with CAPA College.’
