The offering includes:
THEATRE HOME DELIVERY SERVICE, for ages: 7 - 18 years
Fancy a little kitchen sink drama? A dining room farce? Or a sofa saga? We have made a series of short, accessible scripts available for free on our website for families to download, rehearse and perform in their homes. The scripts come with easy-to-understand stage directions to help young theatre makers make the most of the experience. Whether a budding performer, brooding director or costume designer, these scripts have a little something for every member of the family. Our scripts for 7 - 12 years are based on folktales from around the globe. These scripts tell well known stories which families can make their own. Our scripts for 13 - 18 years are excerpts from our debut show, Luna, and come with costume tips and musical compositions which can be used to underscore the action.
LIGHT’S UP ON… for ages: 12+
The world of theatre by the people who make it. For students of Drama and Theatre Studies, aspiring theatre makers, and curious audience members. Lights Up On… introduces you to the various creative talents who make theatrical productions happen. This twelve-week programme will be broadcast live, then made available to stream. In the first weeks, we will talk with five guest theatre makers with national and international reputations, including Kate Cross (Director, the Egg), Nickie Miles-Wildin (Associate Director, Graeae Theatre) & Tarek Merchant (Composer/Musical Director/Performer). In the following weeks we will meet five members of the creative team working on Roustabout’s This Island’s Mine, a brand new show exploring colonialism, identity, and place, inspired by Shakespeare’s The Tempest. The programme ends with two weeks of open rehearsals, allowing us to see how the creative team collaborates in a real-life production context. In addition to these Q&As, there will be opportunities for advice and guidance sessions from the core Roustabout team.
(It’s not all) ZOOM & GLOOM! Streaming LIVE in June then available online. For ages: 5+
A brand-new comedy for all the family to watch together! When friends gather together for an online chat with the ever-grumpy Ben, they find that nothing they can say will cheer him up.Pinching an idea from Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol , they decide to dress up as figures from his past, present and future and teach him that, although we may be physically apart, we can still stay connected. (It’s not all) Zoom and Gloom is a heart-warming, daft, and very funny play, celebrating the wonderful creativity that so many have shown during lockdown, and the nonsense that comes with any attempt to communicate online. A comedy created for Zoom, performed live, and semi improvised (depending on the scale of technical difficulties!).
