Specialist Screen Acting MA at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School

Bristol Old Vic Theatre School (BOVTS) has announced the launch of a new specialist master’s degree in Screen Acting. Commencing in October 2021, applications are now open to both UK and international students.

The one-year course will encompass training in voice, movement, screen combat and acting for motion capture, as well as areas such as self-taping and audition technique. Students will explore a range of screen acting methodologies and have the chance to experience professional ‘on set’ conditions. The course will be delivered at the school’s specialist Film department in Clifton.

Alumni of the school include Sir Daniel Day-Lewis, with Olivia Colman, Josh O’Connor, Erin Doherty and newcomer Tom Byrne all starring in Netflix’s Season 4 of The Crown.

Jenny Stephens, artistic director at BOVTS said, ‘The school has long taught screen acting as part of its curriculum. Intensive conservatoire training produces graduates with a versatility to work across stage and screen, and the success of our alumni is securing film and television toles is clear to see.
