The Actor’s Lounge (supported by patron Sir Mark Rylance) has announced that their course ‘Level 1: Learning the Basics’ will now be available in three new locations: Oxford, Reading and Northampton.

The acting school’s course is aimed at students aged 18 and over who wish to get started in the industry, and offers training in acting techniques and the differences in performing for the stage versus the screen.

The course includes 11 sessions in 10 weeks, with one evening session for two and a half hours per week. Students will gain expertise in classical, contemporary and improvisational acting styles, learning from experienced actors and practitioners along the way. In addition they receive practical career guidance and opportunities and become part of a supportive and inspiring creative community of like-minded people.

Abigail Boyd, founder of The Actor’s Lounge, said “We are so grateful to be in a position to launch classes in three new locations and we remain motivated by the opportunity to introduce people of all abilities to the wonders of acting and the telling of stories. We are passionate about sharing our craft and nurturing actors who excel both on and off the stage.”

Level 1: Learning the Basics course costs £445 and culminates in a performance event.

No auditions or prior training is required but a fluency in English is necessary.

Applications for the courses are open now, ahead of the start dates in January 2025.
