This scheme introduces the performing and the design components of OCR’s A level Drama and Theatre. It is a suggested way into, and route through, the teaching of the components and brings together a range of ideas to help students get to grips with the practical requirements, mixed with a certain amount of supportive written material. Practitioners in Practice is an exploration in six untimed sessions of two practitioners and a text extract, leading to devising a piece that is performed or designed, supplemented by a research report with a portfolio of evidence.
Most students will have some prior learning about drama and theatre, usually from GCSE. They will have mastered some subject vocabulary, interpreted texts and devised/rehearsed/ performed enough to make a start on this course.
