Booking open for new online short courses in theatre from Guildhall School

A new series of 11 online evening courses starting at the end of April has been announced by Guildhall School of Music & Drama, with bookings open now.

Three of the courses, which run until June, are for those interested in drama and theatre.

Intermediate Level Shakespeare: An Experiential Workshop

Wednesday evenings on 28 April, 5, 12, 19, 26 May and 2 June 2021; 6.30–8.30pm, BST (UTC+1)

Ages: 18+

This six-week online evening course will help participants take their classical acting to the next level. Working with one of the UK’s leading classical actors, they can expect to take part in a series of fun sessions that will equip them with tools to perfect their Shakespeare. The course will be divided between practical work, group discussion and lectures.

Approaching Text: The Actor’s Work at Home

Tuesday evenings on 27 April, 4, 11, 18, 25 May and 1 June 2021; 7–9pm, BST (UTC+1)

Ages: 18+

Participants will explore the analysis that actors and directors are required to do on a playwright's text and will build a toolkit to use for the future. This course gives the participants an insight into the theoretical side of acting, they will also draw on the ideas of Stanislavksi, via contemporary directors like Mike Alfreds and Katie Mitchell.

Reading Theatre: a Play a Week

Tuesday evenings on 27 April, 4, 11, 18, 25 May and 1 June 2021; 7.15pm–8.45pm, BST (UTC+1)

Ages: 18+

Participants will form their very own theatre book club. They will read a different play text each week in their own time and each session will be the opportunity to discuss and explore the play with the group and the course tutors. The plays will cover a range of playwrights, genres, styles and subjects.
