Students and registered with bbodance teachers are invited to put forward lockdown-inspired choreography for an online competition.

BBO Dance's Patron and former Scholar, Brandon Lawrence is coordinating an online choreographic challenge, open to all students who are currently taking classes with bbodance Registered Teachers and Associate Members. Students of all ages, abilities, and genres are welcome.

To take part in Lawrence's challenge, students are invited to choose one of three pieces of music commissioned specifically for the project, and fill in a registration form. Having paid an admin fee of £5, entrants have until Friday, 3 July to WeTransfer a video of themselves performing their original choreography to membership@bbo.dance.

The theme of the dance, regardless of the music chosen, should be the choreographer's experience during the current lockdown.

Lawrence will watch all submissions and select a clip from each; these will be edited together for a montage featuring the entire score. All entrants will therefore feature in the final video, and there will also be one winner of the challenge for each piece of music.

Sir David Bentley CBE has been announced as the judge of the competition, saying 'I am delighted and excited by Brandon’s challenge to all aspiring young choreographers. I’m only sorry that, as I’ve agreed to be Judge, I won’t be able to enter myself, as the current lockdown has me aching to flex my own choreographic muscles! Good Luck everyone!'

Winners will be announced on Monday, 14 July.
