Michael Morpurgo’s Tales from Shakespeare streaming free to schools every week

From 8 January, the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) will present Michael Morpurgo’s ‘Tales from Shakespeare’ in a free online streaming to UK schools each week.

The new series of films will run for a five-week period, streaming at 11am each Friday and then available on demand for three months for all schools who register.
Tales from Shakespeare kicks off with Twelfth Night on Wednesday 6 January with a celebratory reading from Morpurgo alongside performed scenes from the play, then continues on the Friday with an 11am streaming of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Other tales included in the series are Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, The Winter’s Tale, and The Tempest, the retellings of which are suitable for Key Stages 1-4. The RSC has provided links to further resources on their website to prepare pupils for each broadcast.
Each event will be available from 11am the following Monday for families to watch on demand for £5 per family, or all five for £20.
Apart from Twelfth Night, all readings and performances are BSL interpreted and/or captioned.
The announcement of the series follows the recent news that RSC Education has received a major endowment, allowing the company to continue working in schools around the country.
