Moulin Rouge! establishes technical academy for young people

Producer of Moulin Rouge! The Musical, Global Creatures, has announced the return of their successful technical training event, and the launch of a new academy for 15- to 25-year-olds. 

Following its debut last year, the day event offers young people with the chance to hear from members of the production’s backstage and technical teams, watch live on-stage demonstrations and learn more about what goes on behind the scenes of the West End show. 

The event will cover wardrobe, wigs, sound design, stage management, and various other backstage positions. 

Launching on 20 July, Get Technical! Academy – with Moulin Rouge! The Musical is a 10-week immersive technical programme for young people. 

Participants will meet weekly at Piccadilly Theatre and will learn the ropes in becoming a West End technician, covering lighting, sound, automation, stage management and working as part of a stage performance crew. 

Those aged 18+ will be offered an optional additional week where they can meet members of the company management team to explore the soft skills needed to launch their technical theatre career.
