Purple Moon Drama launches creative career path programme for young people

After a year of significant youth unemployment, Purple Moon Drama are offering a new training programme –‘I Want A Creative Career’ – giving young people in London the tools to get started in the creative sector.
Across 12 weeks, 15 participants will gain clarity on the range of creative jobs available, and receive training on key work skills and job application techniques.
Through mentoring, expert tuition and internships, the course will demystify the sector, leaving participants with the confidence to step into professional roles and a strong CV to help them.
Funded by the Paddington Development Trust and Purple Moon Drama’s supporters, the program is designed to deliver continued training to at least four participants and post-course placements for an additional two.
Layla Jalaei, one of the young people supported by Purple Moon Drama, says: ‘Since joining the PMD Digital Youth Board as vice-chair during lockdown last summer, their support has helped me to explore and learn new creative practices, join a group of likeminded creative peers, and take advantage of the brilliant opportunities their platform brings. I highly recommend their support to all young people wanting to bring their creative side into their careers’.

Purple Moon Drama founder Cheryl Ndione adds: ‘Our theatre company was built to support the talented youth in our postcodes to express themselves and find their voices in the arts – whether that’s on the stage, writing the script, promoting a show, or being in the tech team. We’re excited to work with the next group of youth and prepare them for fulfilling, fun, and creative careers’.
Registration is still open for those in London aged 16-30 who aren't in work, training, or full-time education. You can apply here until 5pm on 30 April.
