While most Christmas pantomimes will be cancelled or live-streamed this year, Car Park Theatre has announced Car Park Panto, a drive-in theatrical event touring the UK in December. In partnership with the Birmingham Stage Company and Horrible Histories, the socially-distanced panto will be called 'Horrible Christmas'.

The summer months saw Car Park Theatre tour the country with the only national tour of theatre, comedy and live music shows. These were sell-out events, providing hope to the industry and suggesting that the appeal of watching live theatre has not been lost to the pandemic.

Horrible Histories actor and manager Neal Foster said, ‘We were thrilled to be invited to take part in the run of Car Park Party events around the country and were overwhelmed by the response of the audience, who were clearly delighted and relieved to see actors live on stage again.’

He continued, ‘We can't wait to be back on stage in cities and towns that will be crying out for a Christmas show to entertain their families. As you’d expect from Horrible Histories, it’s not a traditional pantomime, but a journey through the story of Christmas in the company of the season’s most fabulous characters. It’s the perfect story for families this winter, as one young boy battles to save Christmas for the world, in this hilarious, joyous and moving celebration.’

Tickets for the events are priced at £45 per car, plus a £2.50 booking fee. Venues and dates are to be confirmed.
