John Godber OBE announced as MDEE 2024 ‘fireside chat’ guest

The acclaimed playwright and dramaturg will be interviewed on the event’s performance stage on 22 February.

The Music & Drama Education Expo (MDEE) 2024 has announced that as part of its programme, playwright and screenwriter John Godber OBE will be interviewed in a ‘fireside chat’. 

Best known for his plays Bouncers (1977),Teechers (1985) and Shakers (1984), Godber was rated the third most performed playwright in the UK in the Plays and Players Yearbook of 1993. 

Alongside his work as a screenwriter and playwright, Godber has also been the creative director of the Theatre Royal Wakefield since 2011, consequentially setting up the John Godber Company as its resident company. 

The MDEE, which will be held at the Business Design Centre in London, is free-to-attend for all those in the music and drama education sector. 

It promises to offer high-quality CPD sessions for hub leaders, teachers of all key stages, inclusion professionals and workshop leaders, as well as the opportunity for attendees to meet and network with colleagues from across the sector. 

Held across 22 and 23 February 2024, the Expo is the largest conference and exhibition in Europe for those involved in music and drama education.
