Next month (November), Manchester’s centre for international contemporary culture presents two live theatrical productions with tickets on sale for £10. ‘The Believers Are But Brothers’ and ‘The End’ explore online radicalisation and the ecological crisis respectively.

Presented by the Javaad Alipoor Company in one of HOME’s two theatres, The Believers Are But Brothers is co-directed by Kirsty Housley and investigates how ISIS and the alt-right radicalise young men online, turning resentment and a crisis of masculinity into violence, hatred, and meme culture.

The Believers Are But Brothers is the first of a trilogy which examines how digital technology, resentment and fracturing identity are changing the world. The show is performed by Javaad Alipoor and Ross McCaffrey and runs from 3 - 5 November, with the last few tickets currently on sale. It will also be streamed online on Friday 6 November at 7.30pm.

From 12 - 14 November, Bertrand Lesca and Nasi Voutsas present The End, using their personal and professional relationship to portray a sad and funny account of the ongoing ecological crisis.

Having premiered at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival, this is the first time audiences will be able to watch the show since then. Bertrand and Nasi said, ‘The End is probably the most personal, autobiographical show we’ve ever made. This makes it feel quite exciting and dangerous for us.’

Throughout the Autumn season, HOME’s 500-seat Theatre 1 has been reduced to a capacity of 120 to allow space for social distancing. Despite this, tickets will be priced at £10 to ensure as many people as possible have the opportunity to return to the theatre.

HOME has also launched a new campaign, ‘Empty Seats’, to highlight the £130-per-week cost of each unfilled seat and the effect that the ongoing coronavirus pandemic is having on arts venues.

Other live performances at HOME during November include High Rise eState of Mind and The Grand Auction of My Life

The Believers Are But Brothers is recommended for ages 16+.
