National Drama is conducting a COVID Impact Study into the effects of the pandemic on secondary drama teaching, and is encouraging teachers to respond with their own experiences.

There have been anecdotal reports of the impact the pandemic has had on arts education. Remote learning, lack of access, the arts being left out of school recovery plans, reduction of teaching hours and also students feeling anxious upon their return to school have all been barriers for teachers over the past year.

National Drama want to understand the scope of these issues, so they have launched a study to hear from as many teachers as possible. They hope to publish a report with recommendations in the Autumn, and write up the study in their peer reviewed journal, Drama Research. The survey is open to all secondary teachers.

The slogan for the survey is: ‘Lets fight for Drama in post-pandemic educational recovery'.
