Shakespeare’s Globe launches free CPD for teachers and free tickets for select schools

Starting from 16 September, the Globe is offering 2 hour online CPD sessions with Globe education practitioners for teachers to use for free.

The interactive workshops explore A Midsummer Night’s Dream and offer teachers exciting techniques to engage with Shakespeare through active and creative approaches in the classroom. 

The classes will be running on the following dates: 

  • Thursday 16 September, 6pm
  • Monday 20 September, 6pm
  • Tuesday 21 September, 6pm
  • Monday 4th October, 6pm
  • Sunday 10th October, 10am
  • Tuesday 12th October, 6pm

The free CPD sessions can be booked online here. 

The Globe are also seeing the return of the annual Playing Shakespeare with Deutsche Bank productions, offering up to 20,000 free tickets to state secondary schools in London and Birmingham. This is the 15th anniversary of the programme, and since the scheme stared more than 200,000 students have benefitted from its rewards. A Midsummer Night’s Dream will be brought to young people from 25 September – 12 October; schools can apply for the tickets here. 

Schools coming to see a performance will also receive free one-hour workshops for their students that can be delivered online or in a classroom. Free online resources are also provided via the Globe website. These resources cover KS3–5 and are tightly linked to the National Curriculum and assessment objectives. There are also teacher and student facing audio, video, printable and interactive resources available to support homework activities or lesson planning.
