The Actors’ and Performers’ Yearbook is a long-established and trusted reference book that supports those interested in finding work within stage, screen and radio with comprehensive listings and guidance. Although it advertises itself as for actors seeking work, it is far more than just a guide for this career pathway.

Agents and casting directors are listed with supporting guidance on what each is looking for or specialises in, as well as the best ways in which to contact them.

Drama schools and what they are looking for are also referenced with also listings for other courses and routes into theatre, television, radio and film. Whether it's fringe, TIE, work in the West End or around the rest of the UK, this book covers a range of areas with comprehensive guidance, aiming to bring everything you'd need into the one publication rather than having to do endless hit-and-miss web searches. Plus, it seems to be impartial, free from listings pushing in one direction due to sponsorship or advertising.

In between each section there is an article by an industry expert with their experiences and advice, such as how to get funding or the difference in acting on the radio. There are also interesting mini essays on important topics, such as post-#MeToo and its legacy effects on the auditioning process, and discussions on class and racism within casting. Beyond the acting profession, there are listings of contacts in publishing and photography, with extensive guidance on securing work or experience and training in the technical side of theatre and media.

It is updated every year, but like any reference book the information dates quickly. It's advisable to follow up any reference with a quick internet search to check that the infromation is stil relevant.

If you're looking for work in the performing arts industry or are fielding questions from students asking for guidance on how to take their talent from school to a professional level, this book is an excellent resource.
