Previously over 4,000 participants from 60 schools have competed in the annual competition Dance Live!, and now more schools from South England are invited to join in.

Aimed at students aged seven to 18, Dance Live! sees young people compete with choreographed dance routines, showcasing dance and performance as well as design skills and technical capability as all performances are staged in front of a giant LED screen.

The competition offers schools a free workshop, alongside providing students with experiences of performing on a professional stage or technical off-stage skills, new friendships, teamwork and confidence.

With backing from The Guildhall Trust, Dance Live! is now expanding from Portsmouth to also have heats in Eastbourne, High Wycombe, Guildford and Poole.

Hayley Reay, head of Learning & Participation at The Guildhall Trust, said, ‘We are so excited to be able to expand Dance Live! beyond Portsmouth and invite more schools and colleges to participate in 2023.

‘Following a successful trial heat in Poole this year and interest from across the country exceeding all our expectations, we’re keen to capitalise on the opportunity of providing a holistic skills-building opportunity for students across southern England.’

Workshops will take place in the Autumn term, and heats will be in March 2023, culminating in the finals in Portsmouth in May 2023.
