After producing a digital trilogy of I Want My Hat Back throughout lockdown, Little Angel Theatre is creating a live version of the production as part of its spring season.

Created with a cardboard set at home while the theatre was shut due to Covid-19, director Ian Nicholson and designer Sam Wilde’s adaptation of John Klassen’s books were streamed on YouTube more than 750,000 times throughout lockdown in 2020.

The duo are now transferring the three shows – I Want My Hat Back, This Is Not My Hat and We Found a Hat – onto the Little Angel Theatre stage.

Artistic director of Little Angel Theatre, Samantha Lane, said: ‘It is wonderful to welcome Ian Nicholson and Sam Wilde back to Little Angel this spring. Their three charming adaptations of Jon Klassen’s Hat books inspired the imaginations of children worldwide when they ran online during lockdown in 2020, as part of our Watch, Make, Share digital programme which is still going strong today.’

‘We can’t wait for children to meet their favourite cardboard characters up close in this brand-new live version of the trilogy.’

The productions open on May 28, and run until July 31 on the North London theatre’s stage.
