Niquelle LaTouche to lead Sadler’s Wells’ new hip-hop school

Applications are now open for the new hip-hop theatre school, which is one of the major initiatives at Sadler’s Wells’ fourth London venue, Sadler’s Wells East.

Sadler's Wells has appointed Niquelle LaTouche as head of its new hip-hop theatre school.
Having trained as a fine artist, poet and choreographer, LaTouche is an educator and artist; she founded Niquelle LaTouche Arts and It Takes A Vintage Collective.
The educator will lead the Academy Breakin’ Convention — part of Sadler’s Wells East that is due to open at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park next year.
On the appointment LaTouche said: ‘As the head of the academy at Breakin’ Convention, I am excited to guide a new generation of polymaths to understand the importance of care, equip them with skills to make undeniable art and raise awareness of their responsibility as future leaders.’
Jonzi D, the founder and artistic director of Breakin’ Convention and a Sadler’s Wells associate artist, will also support LaTouche. They stated that LaTouche 'is very well equipped to lead this organisation to greatness.’
