Aimed at Key Stage 4 students of Drama or English, ‘Radical Theatre: Inspiring future generations’ has been compiled by the Soho Poly and the University of Westminster.

The Soho Poly has released a free education pack for GCSE and A Level students studying Drama and English.

Unpacking the history of the Soho Poly venue, the pack also takes a look at the future of theatre, covering topics such as sustainability, disability, neurodiversity, ethnic minority participation, queer spaces and community theatre.

There are a number of activities for students throughout the resource, for example a page encouraging young people to imagine their own theatre and imagine how they would market this. Another exercise looks at the casting of roles in a play to ensure that they are representative of minorities.

The pack includes a list of 50 different jobs that students wishing to enter the theatre industry may be wanting to pursue.

Alongside the education pack, the venue hopes to launch a smartphone guided walking tour that will reanimate the key spaces from the post-war alternative theatre movement inside the Soho Poly.

Discussing the resource Dr Matthew Morrison, senior lecturer in Creative Writing and creative producer of the Soho Poly, told D&T: 'One of the best things about working on this education pack was learning more about the lived experience of a really diverse group of theatre practitioners. We’re so pleased to include their stories here.'

Soho Poly theatre is supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
