Guildhall appoints Dr David Linton as new head of acting and programme leader

Dr Linton is set to start in the position at the beginning of July.

Guildhall School of Music and Drama has announced that the position of head of acting and programme leader will be filled by Dr David Linton. 

Dr Linton will provide leadership and management to the school's BA (Hons) Acting programme - a course that was significantly revised in September 2021 to be more inclusive and to reflect the ever-changing industry. 

The new programme now features a suite of new modules, equipping students to gain sustainable careers as actors in the 21st Century. 

Dr David Linton said: ‘I am absolutely delighted to be joining Guildhall at this significant time. I welcome the opportunity to be part of such a superb team, committed to providing dynamic actor training which is inclusive and innovative and equipping students for the challenges of a changing industry.’

With previous experience with the Royal Opera House, the Barbican, the BBC and Nottingham Playhouse, Dr Linton is also a founding member of Prussia Lane profuctiion company, and has research experience in Black British performance and the contemporary applications of pre-modern popular performance.

‘David brings with him an impressive track record as an actor, educationalist, researcher and cultural leader, and a vision for the acting programme that is collegiate, progressive and deeply rigorous. I look forward to working with him as we continue to evolve our world-leading actor training and the wider activity of the Drama department.’
