A bespoke examination board offering graded musical theatre qualifications for all ages has been launched by Mountview.

The drama school has said that Mountview Exams will bring the ‘creative agency’ of the performer to the forefront.

On this exam board, singing, dancing and acting share proportional weighting, and instead of following a specific repertoire, students are encouraged to perform any material that meets a grade’s requirements.

Students can showcase self-written work too, as long as it demonstrated their capabilities to examiners. Each test will unfold in front of other performers, in order to best simulate an audience environment.

The examiners will be industry-level in the piece, and have their own experience as professional musical theatre performers and practitioners.

The exams will be conducted at Mountview’s Peckham-based campus or at centres across the UK and abroad.
